Usually the fix is to sign in to Polar again from VertigoMe. Polar asks apps to renew their access every so often. This guide covers that and a few other things to try.
Start with Step 1 and work down. Stop as soon as something works.
The steps are the same on iPhone and Android.
Step 1: Check that Polar Flow has your data
- Open the Polar Flow app on your phone.
- Pull down on the top of the screen to refresh.
- Check that your watch has synced today. Polar Flow shows when it last synced.
- Can you see today's sleep and heart numbers in Polar Flow?
- If you cannot, the gap is between your watch and Polar Flow. Some Polar watches only sync when you press a button on the watch or open Polar Flow.
If Polar Flow has your data but VertigoMe does not, go to Step 2.
Step 2: Reconnect Polar inside VertigoMe
- Open VertigoMe.
- Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen. The Settings drawer slides in from the left.
- Tap Connections.
- Find the Polar card. Look at the button on the right of the card.
- If the button says "Connect", Polar is not connected right now. Tap it. A box asks "Connect Polar?" and explains what VertigoMe reads. Tap Continue. Polar's own sign-in page opens. Sign in and approve access for VertigoMe. The button should now read "Connected".
- If the button already says "Connected" but no data is arriving, disconnect and connect again. Tap Connected. A box asks "Disconnect Polar?". Tap Disconnect. The button changes back to "Connect". Tap it and sign in again, as in point 5.
Wait a few minutes, then check the Monitor tab.
Step 3: Refresh the Monitor tab
- Open the Monitor tab.
- Put your finger near the top of the screen, slide it down a few centimetres and let go.
- Wait about ten seconds while the cards reload.
This works the same way on iPhone and Android.
Step 4: Check the time of day
Polar can take an hour or two after you wake up before last night's sleep is final. Try again around lunchtime.
Step 5: Make sure your watch has synced today
A Polar watch only sends data to Polar Flow when it syncs. Some do this in the background, others only when you open Polar Flow or press a button.
- Open the Polar Flow app.
- If you see a prompt to sync, follow it and wait until it finishes.
- Come back to VertigoMe and refresh the Monitor tab.
Step 6: Make sure Polar is the chosen source
- Tap the gear icon in the top-left.
- Tap Data and Notifications.
- Scroll through the sections (Sleep, Physical Health, Cognitive, Environment and so on), or type the metric name in the Search… box near the top.
- Each metric row shows a small coloured source badge under its name (for example "Polar" or "Phone").
- When more than one connected source can feed that metric, the badge has a small arrow. Tap it, and in the Choose source box pick Polar.
Step 7: Force-close VertigoMe
On iPhone
- Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle.
- Find the VertigoMe card and swipe it up off the screen.
- Tap the VertigoMe icon to open it again.
On Android
- Tap the square button at the bottom (or swipe up and hold).
- Find VertigoMe and swipe it away.
- Tap the VertigoMe icon to open it again.
Step 8: Sign out and back in
- Open VertigoMe.
- Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen. The Settings drawer slides in from the left.
- Tap Logout.
- Sign back in the same way you signed up (email, Apple, Google or Facebook).
- Go to gear icon, Connections and tap Connect on the Polar card if it asks.
Step 9: Reinstall VertigoMe
Your spins and settings are stored in your VertigoMe account, so deleting the app does not delete them.
- Press and hold the VertigoMe icon.
- Tap Delete app (iPhone) or Uninstall (Android).
- Open the App Store or Google Play, search for VertigoMe and install it again.
- Sign in with the same account you used before.
- Reconnect Polar using Step 2.
