My Oura ring is not showing data, what do I do?

The most common reason is the simplest one: Oura asks apps to renew their access every so often, and you just need to sign in to Oura again from VertigoMe. This guide starts with that and then lists a few other things to try, easiest first.

Start with Step 1. If it works, you are done. If it does not, keep going.

The steps are the same on iPhone and Android.

Step 1: Check that Oura itself has today's data

  1. Open the Oura app on your phone.
  2. Look at today's screen. Can you see your sleep, readiness and heart numbers?
  3. If you cannot, the gap is between your ring and the Oura app. Charge the ring, keep it near your phone, open the Oura app and pull down to refresh.

If the Oura app shows your data but VertigoMe does not, go to Step 2.

Step 2: Reconnect Oura inside VertigoMe

This fixes most cases.

  1. Open VertigoMe.
  2. Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen. The Settings drawer slides in from the left.
  3. Tap Connections.
  4. Find the Oura card. Look at the button on the right of the card.
  5. If the button says "Connect", Oura is not connected right now. Tap it. A box asks "Connect Oura?" and explains what VertigoMe reads. Tap Continue. Oura's own sign-in page opens. Sign in and approve access for VertigoMe. The button should now read "Connected".
  6. If the button already says "Connected" but no data is arriving, disconnect and connect again. Tap Connected. A box asks "Disconnect Oura?". Tap Disconnect. The button changes back to "Connect". Tap it and sign in again, as in point 5.

Wait a few minutes, then check the Monitor tab.

Step 3: Refresh the Monitor tab

Sometimes the data is there but the screen is showing an older copy.

  1. Open the Monitor tab.
  2. Put your finger near the top of the screen, slide it down a few centimetres and let go.
  3. Wait about ten seconds while the cards reload.

This works the same way on iPhone and Android.

Step 4: Check the time of day

Oura often finishes processing your night an hour or two after you wake up. If you wake at 7am and look at VertigoMe at 7:05am, last night's sleep may not be there yet. Try again around lunchtime.

Step 5: Make sure Oura is the chosen source

Oura can be connected while a metric (say, HRV) still reads from Apple Health, Health Connect or another wearable. Only one source feeds each metric at a time.

  1. Tap the gear icon in the top-left.
  2. Tap Data and Notifications.
  3. Scroll through the sections (Sleep, Physical Health, Cognitive, Environment and so on), or type the metric name in the Search… box near the top.
  4. Each metric row shows a small coloured source badge under its name (for example "Oura" or "Phone").
  5. When more than one connected source can feed that metric, the badge has a small arrow. Tap it, and in the Choose source box pick Oura.

Step 6: Sign out and back in

  1. Open VertigoMe.
  2. Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen. The Settings drawer slides in from the left.
  3. Tap Logout.
  4. Sign back in the same way you signed up (email, Apple, Google or Facebook).
  5. Go back to gear icon, Connections and tap Connect on the Oura card if it asks.

Step 7: Reinstall VertigoMe

Your spins and settings are stored in your VertigoMe account, so deleting the app does not delete them.

  1. Press and hold the VertigoMe icon.
  2. Tap Delete app (iPhone) or Uninstall (Android).
  3. Open the App Store or Google Play, search for VertigoMe and install it again.
  4. Sign in with the same account you used before.
  5. Reconnect Oura using Step 2.
