Your Apple Watch does not send readings to VertigoMe directly. The watch saves them in the Apple Health app on your iPhone, and VertigoMe reads them from there. So when Apple Watch data is missing, the fix is nearly always in Apple Health.
This guide is for iPhone only. Apple Watch does not work with Android phones.
Start with Step 1. If it works, you are done.
Step 1: Check that Apple Health has today's data
- Open the Health app on your iPhone (the white app with a red heart).
- Tap Browse at the bottom.
- Tap Heart, then Resting Heart Rate. Is today's number there?
- Check Sleep too.
- If the Health app does not have the data, the gap is between your watch and your iPhone. Make sure the watch is charged, on your wrist and near your iPhone.
If Apple Health has the data but VertigoMe does not, go to Step 2.
Step 2: Check VertigoMe's permission to read Apple Health
This is the most common cause.
- Open the Health app.
- Tap your profile picture in the top-right.
- Under Privacy, tap Apps.
- Tap VertigoMe.
- Anything you want VertigoMe to read should be switched on. If some or all are off, tap Turn On All.
- Go back to VertigoMe and refresh the Monitor tab (Step 3).
Step 3: Pull down to refresh
- Open the Monitor tab.
- Put your finger near the top of the screen, slide it down a few centimetres and let go.
- Wait about ten seconds while the cards reload.
This works the same way on iPhone and Android.
Step 4: Check the Apple Health card inside VertigoMe
- Tap the gear icon in the top-left, then Connections.
- Find the Apple Health card at the top.
- If the button says "Connect", tap it. A box asks "Connect Apple Health?". Tap Continue. If Apple's permission sheet appears, tap Turn On All and then Allow.
- If the button says "Connected" and data is still missing, go back to Step 2. Apple only shows its permission sheet once, so changes to what VertigoMe can read are made in the Health app.
Step 5: Check the time of day
The watch can take an hour or two after you wake up to finish last night's sleep. Try again around lunchtime.
Step 6: Make sure Apple Health is the chosen source
- Tap the gear icon in the top-left.
- Tap Data and Notifications.
- Scroll through the sections (Sleep, Physical Health, Cognitive, Environment and so on), or type the metric name in the Search… box near the top.
- Each metric row shows a small coloured source badge under its name (for example "Apple Health" or "Phone").
- When more than one connected source can feed that metric, the badge has a small arrow. Tap it, and in the Choose source box pick Apple Health.
If you also have Oura, WHOOP, Polar or Garmin connected, one of those may be feeding the metric instead. Pick the one you want.
Step 7: Force-close VertigoMe
- Swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone screen and pause in the middle.
- Find the VertigoMe card and swipe it up off the screen.
- Tap the VertigoMe icon to open it again.
Step 8: Restart your iPhone
- Press and hold the side button and either volume button until slide to power off appears.
- Slide to power off and wait about thirty seconds.
- Press the side button to turn it back on.
Step 9: Reinstall VertigoMe
Your spins and settings are stored in your VertigoMe account, so deleting the app does not delete them.
- Press and hold the VertigoMe icon.
- Tap Delete app (iPhone) or Uninstall (Android).
- Open the App Store or Google Play, search for VertigoMe and install it again.
- Sign in with the same account you used before.
- Open gear icon, Connections, tap Connect on the Apple Health card and allow access.
