A trigger is anything you think may have set off a spin, or could. Common ones are a change in head position, a salty meal, poor sleep, stress, a busy visual place or a drop in air pressure. You do not need to be sure. If you wonder "was that it?", log it.
These steps are the same on iPhone and Android.
The one-tap way, from Home
- On Home, tap Trigger in the Quick log row.
- If you have starred favourite triggers, a sheet lists them. Tap one to save it now. Or tap Skip — just log "Trigger".
- If you have no favourites, a general trigger is saved straight away with the time set to now.
The detailed way, from the Log tab
- Tap the Log tab.
- In Quick Log, tap the orange Trigger card. A screen titled Quick Trigger opens.
- Under Which one?, tap the trigger that fits. Your favourites come first. Use the search box if your list is long.
- Under When did this happen?, the time is now. Tap it to change.
- Add a note in Notes if you like, for example "takeaway with soy sauce".
- Tap Log Trigger.
To leave without saving, tap Cancel at the top.
Triggers the app adds for you
Some triggers are added automatically when a connected source crosses a line, such as short sleep from your watch, high sodium from your food log or a pressure change from the weather. In the Journal these are marked Auto-detected. Movement triggers such as Rolling in bed or Looking up / neck extension are always logged by you.
If your trigger is not in the list
- Tap the gear icon at the top left, then Manage Items, then Triggers.
- Add your trigger. It will appear in the list from then on.
What happens after you save
- The trigger appears in the Journal tab with its date and time.
- It counts towards your risk score for the next few days, more if it is rated higher for you.
- Over time, Insights uses your triggers to show which ones turn up most before your spins.
