How to log a medicine and rate how well it worked

Whenever you take something for your spins, such as a tablet for sickness or a preventive medicine, it helps to write it down. You can also note how much you took, how much it helped and any side effects. Fill in only what you remember.

These steps are the same on iPhone and Android.

The one-tap way, from Home

Tap Medicine in the Quick log row on Home. If you have starred favourites, pick one. Otherwise a general medicine entry is saved with the time set to now.

The detailed way, from the Log tab

  1. Tap the Log tab.
  2. In Quick Log, tap the light blue Medicine card. A screen titled Quick Medicine opens.
  3. Under Which one?, tap the medicine you took. Your favourites come first.

How much you took

Under Amount, type a number only. The unit is fixed for each medicine and shown next to the label, for example mg. Leave it blank if you are not sure.

How much it helped

Under How much did it help?, tap None, Low, Mild or High. You can change this later from the Journal.

Side effects (optional)

  1. Tap Any side effects?. A list opens, your favourites first.
  2. Tap one you felt, then say how bad it was. The scale goes from Soft (noticeable but you could carry on) to Severe.
  3. Add more if needed. There is a notes box below.

Time and notes

  1. Under When did you take this? the time is now. Tap it to change.
  2. Add a note in Notes if you like, for example "with food".

Save

Tap Log Medicine. To leave without saving, tap Cancel.

If your medicine is not in the list

Tap the gear icon, then Manage Items, then Medicines, and add it there.

Medicines you take every day

For a regular preventive medicine, you may find it easier to add it as a treatment on the Monitor tab instead of logging every dose. The Daily Check-In then asks about side effects for each treatment you are on.

What happens after you save

  1. The medicine appears in the Journal tab.
  2. It shows on the Medicines card on the Monitor tab.
  3. Over time, Insights shows how your medicines and reliefs compare.
