How to log the kind of spin and your symptoms

Spins feel different from person to person and from day to day. Recording what kind of spin it was, and what came with it, helps you and your doctor tell them apart.

These steps are the same on iPhone and Android.

From the Spin card in Quick Log

  1. Tap the Log tab.
  2. In Quick Log, tap the pink Spin card (Severity, symptoms, timing). A screen titled Quick Spin opens.
  3. Set Spin severity with the slider, from None (0) to Severe (10).
  4. Under Kind of spin (optional), tap any that fit, for example Room spinning, Rocking sensation, Unsteadiness or Nystagmus.
  5. Under Symptoms (optional), tap anything else, such as nausea, ear fullness or the position it started in.
  6. Check the time and add a note if you like.
  7. Tap Log Spin, or Log now, fill in later.

Some symptoms open a short extra sheet. Picking Aura lets you mark where in your vision it appeared and how long it lasted. Picking a tinnitus symptom lets you note which ear and what it sounded like.

The spin stays open, shown as Spin in progress on Home, until you end it.

Recording your eyes

The Spin card in Quick Log has an Eye clips section. Tap Record my eyes to film a short video of your eyes during a spin. It can show your doctor jerky eye movements (nystagmus) that are gone by the time you see them. The clip stays on your phone unless you share it.

Only do this if you are safe, sitting or lying down. Ask someone to hold the phone if you can.

If a symptom is missing

Tap the gear icon, then Manage Items, then Spins, and add it.

What happens after you save

The spin appears in the Journal tab with its severity and symptoms. Over time, Insights can show patterns such as which positions start your spins.
