Setting up the risk gauge

The risk gauge on the Home screen shows, in colour, how likely a spin looks today. You do not have to set anything up. It works from day one with sensible defaults. The Risk Model screen lets you make it a little more, or less, jumpy.

Where to find the Risk Model settings

These steps are the same on iPhone and Android.

  1. Tap the gear icon in the top-left corner.
  2. Tap Risk Model.

The screen has two parts: Gauge thresholds and Decay Curves.

Gauge thresholds

The gauge has four zones: None, Low (green), Mild (amber) and High (red). This card sets the minimum score to enter each zone. The defaults are:

Tap a number, type a new one, then tap Save at the bottom. A message confirms it was saved and your risk is being recomputed.

When to lower a threshold

If the gauge stays green on days that turn out to be bad, lower Mild or High. The colour changes sooner.

When to raise a threshold

If the gauge sits at amber or red most days and starts to feel like noise, raise them.

The weekly recalibration can also suggest new thresholds based on which days actually came before a spin.

Decay Curves

When a trigger affects you, the effect does not vanish at midnight. It fades over a few days. Decay Curves shows how quickly, separately for High, Mild and Low triggers, as day-by-day bars from today back over the last six days. Tap a bar to change it. This is an advanced setting. Leave it alone unless your score keeps feeling wrong.

Choosing the three metrics on the Risk card

This is a separate display setting. On the Monitor tab, tap the Risk card, then tap Customize Risk at the top. On Customize Risk Card, pick 3 favourite metrics to show on your Risk card. This does not change the gauge calculation.

Resetting

Tap Reset Defaults on the Risk Model screen to put the thresholds and decay curves back to the starting values, then tap Save.

A note on patience

The gauge gets better as VertigoMe learns your normal. Give it a few weeks before retuning.
