Food can matter for vestibular conditions. Salt is the best-known example for Meniere's disease, and things like caffeine, alcohol and some food additives are often named as vertigo or vestibular migraine triggers. VertigoMe keeps count from the food you log, so you do not have to add it up yourself.
What VertigoMe watches
- Sodium (salt). Added up across the day on the Sodium today card on Home, against a 1,500 mg daily target.
- Caffeine. Both unusually high and unusually low days.
- Food flags. Each food is checked for tyramine, alcohol, gluten, histamine, aspartame, MSG, nitrates and sulfites, and given a level.
- Skipped meals. A trigger you log yourself.
How a pattern is found
- VertigoMe totals the nutrients in the food you log for each day.
- Each day the totals are checked against set limits and against your own last two weeks. A day well above or below your usual can fire a food trigger, for example Sodium high (above 3,000 mg) or Caffeine high (above 400 mg).
- Over time, Insights compares those trigger days with your spin days to show which ones really line up for you.
Where to see your food data
- Tap the Monitor tab.
- Tap the Diet card. It shows caffeine, alcohol and sodium by default.
- The Diet screen shows Today's Log, your Risk Exposures for the day and All Nutrients.
If you do not see the Diet card, tap Configure Monitor at the top of the Monitor tab and switch it on.
Getting food into VertigoMe
Logging food inside VertigoMe is a Premium feature. On the Diet screen, in the Add Food card, you can:
- Scan a barcode of a packaged food.
- Type it in with Search foods.
- Take a photo of your meal and check the foods it finds.
You can also reach the Diet screen from the Food card on the Log tab.
If you already use another food app that shares with Apple Health or Health Connect, VertigoMe can read meals from there. Make sure Nutrition is switched on under the gear icon, Data and Notifications, Nutrition.
Start small
You do not need to log every bite. A meal or two a day for a couple of weeks already gives the app something to compare.
