What to do if your cycle is irregular

Many people have cycles that vary by a week or more, long gaps, or changes around menopause. You can still use cycle tracking in VertigoMe. The app does not need a perfect number, only a starting point.

Set a starting point

  1. Tap the Monitor tab, then the Menstruation card.
  2. In Cycle Settings, leave Average Cycle Length at 28, or type your best guess.
  3. Tap Save Settings.

Log each period when it really starts

  1. On the same screen, find the Log a Period card.
  2. Tap Select date and pick the day it started. Today is a shortcut.
  3. Tap Add.

Do this every time, even if you are late logging it. Each entry teaches the app your real pattern.

Keep Auto-update Average on

With Auto-update Average on, your average cycle length is recalculated each time you log a period. Over a few cycles it settles closer to your real average.

When the prediction is wrong

When the predicted date arrives, VertigoMe turns it into a period entry and moves the next prediction on by one cycle. If your period has not actually come, wait, then log the real start date when it does. If it came early, log the real date in the same way.

Very long or skipped cycles

If your cycles swing between, say, 25 and 50 days, enter your rough average or leave 28. If you skip a month, there is nothing to do. Log the next period when it comes.

Around menopause

Set a guess, log every bleed even if light, and watch how your risk gauge and spins change. If cycle prediction is not useful for you, you can switch Menstruation off under Data and Notifications.

A reminder

The extra risk around your period is a guide. Some cycles will bring no symptoms, and some spins will come outside the window. Log them all.
