Why we recommend logging your period directly in VertigoMe on Android

On Android, many period-tracking apps do not share their cycle data with VertigoMe, even after you switch everything on. This article explains why and shows the easy fix.

The short version

On Android, VertigoMe reads cycle data through Health Connect, a shared store that health apps can read from and write to if they choose. Many period apps keep their data inside their own app and do not write it to Health Connect. That is their choice, and we cannot change it from our side.

So even with a period app installed, VertigoMe may see no period data through Health Connect.

Log it directly instead

  1. Tap the Monitor tab.
  2. Tap the Menstruation card. The first time, fill in Cycle Settings and tap Save Settings.
  3. In the Log a Period card, tap Select date.
  4. Pick the day your period started.
  5. Tap Add.

You only need to do this on the first day of each period. If you forget, pick the past date later.

What the app does with it

The more periods you log, the better the prediction gets, as long as Auto-update Average is on.

If your period app does write to Health Connect

Tap the gear icon, Data and Notifications, open Menstruation and switch it on. VertigoMe asks Health Connect for access to menstruation data. Allow it, and VertigoMe can import your periods.

On iPhone

Apple Health does share period data, and many period apps write to it, so on iPhone they usually connect without trouble through Apple Health.

Privacy

What you log stays in your VertigoMe account. To have a logged period removed, write to [email protected].
