When you first open VertigoMe, the app shows you around and helps you set things up. It only happens once. You can skip parts and come back to them later. Nothing is broken if you tap something by accident.
These steps are the same on iPhone and Android, with a few differences in the permission screens noted below.
Step 1: Welcome, before you sign in
- On a new phone the first screen says Welcome to VertigoMe.
- Tap Show me how it works. Five short slides explain the idea: you log your spins, triggers fill your bucket, the gauge says HIGH when you are near the top, it looks 7 days ahead, and every Monday it learns from your data.
- Tap Next, Back or Skip. Then you sign in or create your account.
Step 2: How do you want to start?
After your first sign-in you see three cards:
- Take the tour (marked Recommended, about 5 minutes). The real screens, each explained in one card, ending with connecting your wearable and setting up your profile. Tap Show me the app.
- Set up my profile (about 3 minutes). A few questions about your spins, then the AI drafts your triggers, thresholds and lists. Tap Answer a few questions.
- Go to the app (marked In a spin? This one). Skips everything and opens Home straight away. Tap Start now. You can still log a spin first and set up later.
You can rerun all of this later from Profile.
The rest of this article assumes you chose the tour.
Step 3: The guided tour
The app shows its main parts one card at a time: Home, the Risk Model, the Log tab, Ask VertigoMe, Monitor, Diet and your cycle, Insights, the Daily Check-In, Recalibration, Goals, Exercises and Community. Each card says where to find that part in the app.
- Read the card, then tap Next. Back goes to the previous card. Skip jumps past the tour.
- The last screen says And there's much more, with a few extras such as the active-spin timer, the clinic questionnaires, the eye recorder, caregiver mode and the Full Report.
- Tap Set up profile to continue.
The tour uses pictures of the screens. Nothing is added to your records.
Step 4: Now let's set up your data
A short page lists what comes next: 1. Permissions, 2. Connect, 3. Configure and 4. AI Personalisation. Tap Let's go. Tapping Skip here skips the permission screens.
Step 5: Permission screens
Each permission has its own small screen with a button to allow it. If you would rather not, tap Skip for now. You can change your mind later in your phone's Settings app. If a permission is already granted, the screen tells you so and you tap Continue.
You will be asked about:
- Location. VertigoMe uses your city to fetch the weather, because changes in air pressure are a common vestibular trigger. We only use city-level location, never your exact address.
- Notifications. For your evening check-in reminder and for alerts when your risk rises.
- Microphone. For voice logging and for measuring how loud it is around you.
- Calendar. So the evening check-in can suggest activities, reliefs and stress triggers from your events. Only what you confirm is saved.
On iPhone you are also asked about Speech recognition, so you can talk instead of type. On Android you also see Screen time (screen use and visual motion bother some people) and a battery screen, Disable Battery Optimization, so Android does not pause VertigoMe in the background.
If your phone shows its own pop-up at the same time, tap Allow there too.
Step 6: Connect Apple Health or Health Connect
The real Connections screen opens with a card on top explaining each step.
- Tap Connect on the Apple Health card (iPhone) or the Health Connect card (Android).
- Tap Next on the guide card when you are done, or if you want to skip this.
Step 7: Connect a wearable
- The same screen lists the wearables you can connect: WHOOP, Oura, Polar and Garmin.
- Tap Connect on the one you own and sign in with your usual login for that brand.
- You come back to VertigoMe and the card shows it is connected.
If you do not own any of these, tap Next. You can connect one later from Connections in the Settings menu.
Step 8: Choose what to collect
- A list of things VertigoMe can track appears, such as sleep, heart rate, weather and more, each with a switch.
- Turn on what you want. Some need a permission first.
- Scroll to the bottom. The guide button changes from Scroll down to continue to Done. Tap it.
You can change these later from Data and Notifications in the Settings menu.
Step 9: AI setup
A set of questions about your spins follows. See Filling in your AI profile, and why it helps. One of the first pages asks which type of vestibular condition you have, covered in Choosing your vestibular subtype.
At the end you can pick AI companions, covered in its own article.
Step 10: Your free trial begins
- The last screen says Enjoy 14 days on us, with Premium is unlocked. No card needed, no strings attached.
- Tap Let's go.
You land on Home. Welcome to VertigoMe.
