VertigoMe is one app for many kinds of vertigo and dizziness. During setup it asks which kind you have, so it can shape a few things around you. This article explains the question, what your answer changes, and how to change it later.
Where the question is
It is the second question page of the AI setup, titled Which type of vestibular condition?, with the line Pick all that apply. You can have more than one.
The choices are:
- BPPV (positional vertigo)
- Vestibular migraine
- Meniere's disease
- Vestibular neuritis
- PPPD (persistent dizziness)
- MdDS (rocking sensation)
- Labyrinthitis
- Bilateral vestibulopathy
- Vestibular paroxysmia
- Superior canal dehiscence (SCDS)
- Perilymph fistula
- Acoustic neuroma (vestibular schwannoma)
- Cervicogenic dizziness (neck)
- Central vertigo (stroke, MS, other brain causes)
- Not sure yet
Tap every one that a doctor has told you, or that you suspect. Many people have more than one, for example BPPV alongside vestibular migraine. If nobody has given you a name yet, Not sure yet is a perfectly good answer.
The same page also asks how long a typical spin lasts and whether spins start when you change position, such as lying down, rolling over or looking up.
What your answer changes
- Your lists. Some suggested items depend on your subtype. For example, hearing-related items are suggested for Meniere's disease, and positional ones for BPPV.
- The Headache page. Head pain is part of vestibular migraine, and often of PPPD. If your subtypes are BPPV, Meniere's, vestibular neuritis or MdDS only, the Headache page in the spin log and the Headache quick-log button are hidden by default. If you pick vestibular migraine or PPPD, or leave the question blank, they stay. You can show or hide the page yourself from Customize log pages on the Log tab.
- Your Profile. Your answer shows on the Vestibular subtype card in Profile.
- Your AI setup and reports. The AI uses your subtype when it suggests your triggers and gauge settings, and it appears on your report.
Your answer is never a diagnosis. VertigoMe does not decide what you have. Only an ENT, neurologist or audiologist can do that.
Changing it later
- Tap the gear icon at the top left, then Profile.
- Find the Vestibular subtype card.
- Tap the small pencil next to the title. The same question page opens.
- Change your choices and save.
You can also type it yourself: tap the pencil next to your name in Profile and fill in Spin type, for example "BPPV, vestibular migraine". When this field names a subtype the app recognises, it takes priority for the Headache page.
If your diagnosis changes
It is common for a diagnosis to change after tests or over time. Just update the card. Your past spins stay exactly as you logged them.
