An Apple Watch is the simplest wearable to connect to VertigoMe. There is no extra sign-in. If your watch is paired with your iPhone, you are most of the way there.
The Apple Watch does not send its health data to VertigoMe directly. The watch puts its readings (steps, sleep, heart rate and so on) into the Apple Health app on your iPhone, and VertigoMe reads them from Apple Health.
VertigoMe also has its own Apple Watch app for logging a spin and checking your risk from your wrist. That is a separate thing. See Setting up VertigoMe on Apple Watch.
Apple Watch works only with iPhone.
Step 1: Make sure your Apple Watch is feeding Apple Health
Open the Health app on your iPhone. If you can see your steps and heart rate from the watch, it is paired and feeding Apple Health.
Step 2: Connect Apple Health in VertigoMe
- Open VertigoMe.
- Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen. A drawer slides in from the left.
- Tap Connections.
- Find the Apple Health card at the top and tap Connect. If it already says Connected, skip ahead.
- A short VertigoMe note explains what will be read. Tap Continue.
- Apple's permission sheet slides up. Tap Turn On All, then Allow.
The Apple Health card now reads Connected.
Step 3: Wait a little while
VertigoMe picks up new readings when you open the app, and iPhone also wakes VertigoMe in the background when your watch writes new sleep, heart or step data. Last night's sleep may not be ready until an hour or two after you wake up.
To check it is working, open the Monitor tab and look at the Sleep and Physical Health cards.
On iPhone, VertigoMe reads Apple Health from the day you connect onwards (sleep from the last week). It does not copy your older history.
Troubleshooting
"The card says Connected but I see no data"
Open the Health app, tap Browse and check that the data you are missing is there. If Health shows it but VertigoMe does not, open Settings, Apps, Health, Data Access & Devices, VertigoMe, and check the categories are switched on.
"I tapped Connect but no permission sheet appeared"
This can happen if you answered before. Use the Settings path above to switch the categories on.
"I want to disconnect"
Tap the Connected button on the Apple Health card. A window asks Disconnect Apple Health?. Tap Disconnect. To remove the permissions as well, use the Settings path above.
