Tracking how hearing affects your life with the HHI

Alongside logging ear symptoms, VertigoMe includes the Hearing Handicap Inventory (HHI), a questionnaire used in clinics. It asks how your hearing affects your daily and social life and gives a score you can track over time.

Taking it

  1. Tap the gear icon in the top-left and tap Profile.
  2. Tap Questionnaires ("DHI, VSS-SF and hearing scores").
  3. Find Hearing Handicap Inventory: 25 questions, about 4 minutes.
  4. Tap Take it now, or Retake if you have taken it before.

Questionnaires are a Premium feature.

Keeping it regular

Retaking it every month or two shows the trend. On the Notifications card under Data and Notifications, the Questionnaire reminder can remind you every month, every 2 months or every 3 months.

What the score is

The HHI measures how much your hearing gets in the way of everyday life, as you see it. It is not a hearing test and does not replace an audiogram from an audiologist. Bring both to your appointments.

For the questionnaire itself and the other scales (DHI and VSS-SF), see the Questionnaires section of this help centre.
