Cycle

Connecting Glow, Eve, Ovia or Stardust

Glow, Eve, Ovia and Stardust all track your cycle. If you use one of them, VertigoMe can read your period days so you do not have to enter them twice. The setup is different on iPhone and Android, so follow the section for your phone.

Last known update

On Android, none of Glow, Eve, Ovia or Stardust currently shares cycle data with other apps through Health Connect, even when Health Connect is installed. This is a choice by the app maker and outside our control. If you have an Android phone, skip to the Android section below.

On iPhone, the link works through Apple Health.

On iPhone

VertigoMe reads periods from Apple Health. Your cycle app writes them there, so you only need to give VertigoMe permission once.

  1. Open VertigoMe.
  2. Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen, then Connections.
  3. Find Apple Health and tap Connect. If it already says Connected, skip to step 6.
  4. Tap Continue on VertigoMe's short note.
  5. On Apple's sheet, tap Turn On All (or make sure Menstruation is on), then Allow.
  6. Open the drawer again, tap Data and Notifications, and check the Menstruation switch is on and its source badge says Apple Health. Connecting Apple Health sets this for you.

VertigoMe looks back over up to a year of period days in Apple Health.

If the permission sheet did not appear

Your iPhone may remember an old answer. Check it in Settings:

  1. Open the Settings app (the grey gear, not VertigoMe).
  2. Tap Apps, then Health, then Data Access & Devices.
  3. Tap VertigoMe and make sure Menstruation is on.
  4. Open VertigoMe again.

If you still see no periods

Open your cycle app, find Apple Health in its settings and turn sharing on for period data. Then come back to VertigoMe.

On Android

As noted at the top, none of these four apps shares its data with Health Connect on Android right now, so VertigoMe cannot see it. If that changes, here is how you would connect:

  1. Open VertigoMe.
  2. Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen, then Connections, and connect Health Connect if it is not connected yet.
  3. Open the drawer again and tap Data and Notifications.
  4. In the Menstruation section, make sure the Menstruation switch is on.
  5. Tap the small source badge under the word Menstruation and pick Health Connect in the Choose source list.
  6. Health Connect asks for permission to read periods. Allow it.

VertigoMe then looks back over up to two years of periods in Health Connect.

Until then, the simplest way on Android is to log your period directly in VertigoMe.

Logging your period in VertigoMe

This only takes a moment.

  1. Open VertigoMe.
  2. Tap the Monitor tab.
  3. Scroll to the Menstruation card and tap it.
  4. Under Log a Period, tap Select date.
  5. Pick the day your period started.
  6. Tap Add.

Do this on the first day of each period. You can also pick a past date if you forgot. VertigoMe uses your periods to predict the next one, and the days around a predicted period count towards your daily spin risk.

Privacy

VertigoMe never reads anything from these apps directly. On iPhone it only reads what these apps share with Apple Health, after you allow it. You can switch it off any time under Data and Notifications, Menstruation. On iPhone, periods you log in VertigoMe are also saved to Apple Health.
